Happy Anniversary
‘Jeff’s Joynt’!
Congratulations to Jeff Gilbert as we celebrate two years of “Jeff’s Joynt” this month. Gilbert, aka the “Last Crooner,” has been with KSVY for nearly four years, first as host of “The Great American Songbook,” and then moving on to the often unpredictable but always fun “Jeff’s Joynt,” an entertaining mix of old-time radio shows and music, zany skits and impersonations, and one-of-a-kind comedy bits. Jeff is joined daily by a cast of regular eccentrics, including the “Sentimental Gentleman of Georgia,” Joe Pesci and many other unforgettable characters. Don’t miss it – “Jeff’s Joynt” – Monday through Friday from 3 to 4 p.m.

Coats & Pickles move on
Longtime KSVY 91.3 Sonoma host Michael Coats, who has been with the station almost since its inception, and his cohort, Mr. Pickles, have broadcast their last show. Coats and Pickles, stalwarts of the “Guys at Five” on Wednesday afternoons, will be missed by their colleagues and many fans. When they were on the air, listeners never knew what they were going to get.
“It’s always been an exciting show, a racy show,” said Bob Taylor, program director. “It’s been controversial but very fun, and always provided excellent entertainment.”
“After four years, time has run its course,” said Coats, a Sonoma publicist who will still have a presence around the valley. “As [my old friend] Leda Kenitz used to say, nothing is more consistent than change.” And he should know: the decision to bow out coincided with other changes in his life, particularly on the career front.
“It’s been a ball,” he said, “but now it’s onward and upward. Of course, nothing is ever really over. Mr. Pickles and I have an open invitation to drop by the radio station any Wednesday night and chances are, we will. And of course, Job Site Jeff will carry on.”
