El Guapo is host of the daily show La Cornetá (The Trumpet), a lively mix of both old and new ranchera style Mexican music, cumbias (African-influenced Caribbean dance music), and the music of northern Mexico. One of KSVY’s most popular hosts, El Guapo (Lady’s Man) stays busy fielding listener call-ins and music requests both on and off the air. Through the magic of Internet streaming, La Cornetá reaches a large listening audience that extends beyond Sonoma to the greater Bay Area and to outlying Spanish-speaking communities as far away as Mexico. Airing just before La Cornetá is Mananas en Espanol, also hosted by El Guapo, featuring Latin rock, reggae, and much more.
El Guapo is one of KSVY’s original program hosts, and was the first to broadcast his show entirely in Spanish. Originally from the Guadalajara area, he lives in Sonoma and works in the construction business. He is interested in photography and skateboarding and loves all kinds of music.
