About Dick Conte
Dick Conte has been a defining voice in jazz radio for over six decades. His broadcasting career began in the early 1960s at the legendary KJAZ, and continued through celebrated tenures at KMPX, KSFO, KKCY, KKSF, and most recently KCSM, where he served as DJ, Music Director, and Program Director until his retirement in June 2025.

In parallel with his radio career, Dick has made his mark as a gifted jazz pianist, performing with his trio and quartet at major jazz festivals including the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Russian River Jazz Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival, and Sonoma Valley Jazz Festival. He’s shared the stage with greats like Cassandra Wilson, Tony Bennett, and Eddie Harris, and performed at many iconic Bay Area venues—from Yoshi’s and the Plush Room, to Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society, Kimball’s East, and countless wineries and private events across Northern California.

Dick is a three-time Gavin Report Jazz Broadcaster of the Year nominee and recipient of the AWRT Kudo Award for Best Radio Music Programming. His legacy includes not just the music he’s shared on air and on stage, but also his mentorship of the next generation of artists through the Dick Conte Jazz Piano Scholarship Fund at the California Jazz Conservatory (Jazzschool) in Berkeley.

Now bringing his talents to KSVY Sonoma 91.3 FM, Dick continues his mission to uplift artists, support live music, and share the joy of jazz with new audiences.
