Left of the Dial
Left of the Dial
Hosted by: Nora Murphy
Thursday 9pm - 10pm

Left Of The Dial is a Replacements song. The ‘Mats inspired many bands that may never admit it because the Minneapolis-based band never broke through to the mainstream as their attitude and antics wouldn’t allow it. They have been on the short list of artists to be banned from ever appearing again on SNL after they blatantly defied the rules on live TV. To be true, Nora doesn’t think only music is punk. So too can art, comedy, wine - all of which your host lives for! She will be sharing the vibes that keep her moving and motivated!
About the host: Three radio moments remind Nora of how her taste in music was ultimately transformed. Growing up in the music wasteland of Suburbia Chicago before WXRT was a thing, she was on her way to see a classic rock guy whose name will now not pass her lips, when the radio station in her VW Bug played Blondie’s “One Way Or Another.” What the - Hell yeah! A few years later she was trying to find footing in San Diego when she was casually listening to 91X and the DJ announced, “This is the last time you will ever hear this song on this station. After “Stairway To Heaven” finished the format slammed into an Alternative platform starting with Berlin’s “Sex (I’m a…)” Most significantly, a couple years later when driving down Sunset Boulevard - where she lived in proximity to for the next 28 years - KXLU played “Unsatisfied” by The Replacements. She locked in and has since been fueled by the energy and attitude of punk and post-punk. Now to this day, Nora lives a little Left Of The Dial right here in Sonoma.
