The Vinyl Cave

The Vinyl Cave

Hosted by: DJ Dragonfly
Friday 7pm - 10pm

The Vinyl Cave

Come inside... THE VINYL CAVE!!! Every Friday, from 7-9 PM, we're going to go spelunking through the subterranean depths of analogically formatted music to bring you the best of under appreciated Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Funk, R&B, Soul, Americana, International and More!  The show will be ENTIRELY programmed with records--no CD's, no MP3s, no cassettes. I operate a home for neglected vinyl:  I take them in, I cleans 'em and I plays 'em!  The better, I feel, for your listening experience.

I shy away from the "hits" that you can find anywhere else.  I take the extra step of looking at the artists who made those hits and "mine" their albums looking for gems that have been neglected by other radio stations.  I'm also on the lookout for artists who, due to the fickle finger of fate, never made the big time, AKA, "No Hit Wonders".

You can help!  I'm enlisting you to hoist a pick and shovel to help as we mine through looking for great songs and artists. I have DJ'd at KCSN at Cal State University, Northridge and KWMR in Point Reyes Station.  My mentors and influences for my free-form programming have included: Jim Ladd of KLOS and Rodney on the ROQ, both of Los Angeles, California; The Iceman (Bob Segarini), of Q107, Toronto, Canada; the Legendary Murray the K of WINS, New York City; Voco of KMPX, San Francisco, California; Hippie Prophet of KBBI, Homer, Alaska; and last but not least, Dr. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap of WKRP in Cincinnati!!!! Join me (DJ Dragonfly) and occasional guest hosts...maybe you!  Inquire within!

Or call in to suggest overlooked tracks, artists, genres.  Maybe you've got an under appreciated gem you want to share that I don't have:  I'll put it on the radio! You can put your requests on our Facebook page:  Go to Facebook and put "The Vinyl Cave" in the search bar.  Leave your request there and I'll play it on the next show.  Or, you can also call me during the show to put your requests in! "Looking forward to hearing from you inside...The Vinyl Cave!"
